Tickets for SPJ's Region 2 conference March 28 – 29 at Georgetown University, 640 Massachusetts Ave. NW,\ Washington, D.C., are moving fast. You have until March 22 to buy tickets at the early-bird rate. Ticket sales will end March 24.
The conference will kick off on Friday evening with a screening of "A Fragile Trust," a new documentary about Jayson Blair's plagiarism and fabrication.
There will be nine sessions and programs to chose from, in three time slots Saturday, as well as a discussion of plans to possibly update the SPJ Code of Ethics. The Mark of Excellence Awards for student journalism will be given out at lunch, when Washington Post media critic Erik Wemple will speak.
The conference will conclude with a 21-and-over reception at the National Press Club (must register in advance; follow link on Eventbrite page). Advance registration is also required for a "7-Minute Pitches" session between freelancers and editors; contact Stephenie Overman at saoverman@gmail.com.
