Journalists around the world are risking their safety and their lives to cover everything from the ongoing threats to democracy to the wars in Gaza and Ukraine to other consequential global stories. On Friday, May 3 at 10:00 a.m. ET, join The Washington Post on World Press Freedom Day for conversations about the role of an independent media in a democracy, what’s at stake as billions of people head to the polls this year and the technological shifts reshaping the industry. We will also reveal the World Press Freedom Index, an annual assessment from Reporters Without Borders (RSF) about the state of press freedom in 180 countries and territories.
