Description: The National Interest is the foreign-policy world’s leading realist outlet. A bimonthly magazine, we strive to provide a forum for bipartisan debate on the strategic and breaking issues facing American foreign-policy makers. Discussion continues on The National Interest online, with daily in-depth analysis of today’s hot topics.
The successful candidate will work closely with all members of the magazine’s staff to plan and publish issues. This is a permanent position.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing layout and design of magazine
- Copyediting and proofreading manuscripts
- Researching for potential articles/authors and accepted pieces
- Supervising printing and distribution of magazine
Qualification:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in international relations, journalism or related field with relevant work experience
- Significant knowledge of international affairs and foreign policy; a leaning toward the realist school of thought
- Knowledge of InDesign or similar design program. Working knowledge of entire Adobe Suite is a plus.
- Excellent writing and copyediting skills
- Ability to multitask under strict deadlines
- Willingness to work long hours when needed
- Must be able to work well with others and share office tasks
- Understanding of publishing and foreign-policy publications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
