A few days ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the United States, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) will host a panel and a networking reception to launch its new report on Beijing’s global propaganda and disinformation operations at the U.S. Capitol in Washington.
The publication is part of RSF’s editorial project, Propaganda Monitor, which examines the geopolitical trends shaping propaganda, documents its methods, and provides recommendations to counter its spread.
The panel will bring together diaspora activists and journalists who are targeted by the Chinese regime’s propaganda, including Rushan Abbas, Executive Director of the Campaign for Uyghurs and Chairperson of the Executive Committee of World Uyghur Congress, Frances Hui, the Policy and Advocacy Manager at the Committee for Freedom in Hong Kong Foundation, and Vivian Wu, veteran Chinese journalist and the founder of Dasheng Media, and Circle 19 member.
Clayton Weimers, RSF North America’s Director, will host the event. The report findings will be presented by Aleksandra Bielakowska, Advocacy Manager at the RSF Asia-Pacific bureau.
A networking reception with food and refreshments will follow.
