Join the Foreign Press Association and the Society of Professional Journalists International Community to discuss ways we can stop the implementation of the proposed changes to the media I visa, which limit a journalist’s stay in the United States to 8 months and a mere 90 days for PRC press. Many see this as a form of political censorship[ of critical reporting.
Foreign Press Association President Ian Williams and SPJ International chair Dan Kubiske will lead the discussion.
Because these changes also affect international students and exchange programs, we will be reaching out to such groups as well. We would like to build a strong coalition to stop implementation before the September 15 deadline and look for suggestions to mobilize interested groups from business, education, culture and sports, who want global coverage of their activities.
