Are the Media Being Trumped? The News on Presidenti.al Campaigns’ Political Discourse

Join the Society of Professional Journalists the evening of Wednesday Jan. 13, 2016, for a discussion on media coverage of the 2016 presidential races.

Panelists include:

  • Politico Campaign Pro Editor Scott Bland
  • ThinkProgress political reporter Alice Ollstein
  • Bloomberg News First Word DC Team Leader Derek Wallbank
  • Washington Post media critic/blogger Erik Wemple.

Moderator: Communications Daily’s Jonathan Make.

These experts will discuss how media coverage is affecting political discourse, what the polls say and the outlook for hot-button issues in the primaries and general election. The pundits will also discuss how a new breed of amateur candidates led by Donald Trump are influencing media coverage.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and panel starts at 7. The Fund for American Studies is hosting this SPJ DC event at 1706 New Hampshire Ave. NW, (Metro stop is DuPont Circle) and students in particular are encouraged to attend at no cost, but reservations are requested.
