Former chapter president and member of Hall of Fame is focus of story on DC-based journalists

Jonathan Salant, former SPJ DC chapter president and 2023 Washington Journalism Hall of Fame inductee, is the focus of a story pushed out by Voice of America on the ever-dwindling number of journalists covering the national government for local news outlets.

“The public are the ones that are the losers because there’s nobody keeping track of their elected officials,” he said. Salant covers national politics from Washington for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
