Radio host Kojo Nnamdi is Master of Ceremonies at June 14 Dateline Awards dinner

One of metropolitan Washington’s best-known interviewers, Kojo Nnamdi, will be Master of Ceremonies at the Society of Professional Journalists Washington, D.C., Professional Chapter Dateline Awards and Hall of Fame dinner on June 14, 2022, at the National Press Club Ballroom. Known to all simply by his first name, Kojo co-hosts The Politics Hour (with analyst Tom Sherwood) Fridays at noon on WAMU 88.5. For 23 years, he was the host of The Kojo Nnamdi Show, weekdays on WAMU 88.5.

At the June 14 event, three other distinguished Washington journalists will be inducted to the SPJ-DC Hall of FameThe New Yorker magazine’s chief Washington Correspondent Jane Mayer, ABC News Chief Justice Correspondent Pierre Thomas and New York Times White House Photographer Doug Mills.

All will speak in the ballroom of the National Press Club, 529 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C. Cash bar cocktails begin at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m.

On the same evening, the SPJ D.C. Chapter’s 2022 Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Frank LoMonte, currently legal counsel at CNN, for his years as executive director of the Student Press Law Center. Mr. LoMonte also will speak.

Also at the June 14 dinner, SPJ DC will present its annual Dateline Awards for excellence in local journalism, recognizing finalists and announcing the category winners.

Tickets for the dinner are now available at $90 for members and non-members through June 8.

After June 8, tickets will be $110. There will be a cut-off time on the day of the dinner.
