What information do you need about Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act? Would you like to learn how it compares to federal law? Are you interested in finding out about how to overcome recalcitrant Commonwealth bureaucrats? Want to know how the pandemic is affecting records requests?
Join the Virginia and Washington, D.C., Pro chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists for a virtual FOIA program, Nov. 10 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Paul Fletcher, publisher & editor-in-chief of Virginia Lawyers Weekly and former national SPJ Freedom of Information Committee chair, heads up the panel. He’s also a past national president of SPJ.
Panelists also include Megan Rhyne, executive director of the Virginia Coalition for Open Government; Jim McElhatton, freelance investigative reporter; and Evan Watson, investigative reporter with 13News Now (WVEC).
The discussion will be moderated by Denise Dunbar, publisher and executive editor of the Alexandria Times and a member of the board of directors of the DC Pro chapter.
