  A group food writers will discuss the business of food: from the commodities markets, to the farmers’ fields, to the grocer, to your table. Bring a Brown Bag lunch, and join us from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, at Washington Post, 1150 Fifteenth St.NW, meeting rooms 1 & 2.

Join us Saturday, April 12 at the Georgetown downtown campus, located at 640 Massachusetts Ave. NW, just two blocks from the Gallery Place Metro Station.   “Broadcast History: Past, Present and Future,” at George Washington University, 6 to 8 p.m. Speaker is Dr. Christopher Sterling, associate dean, Columbian College of Arts and Sciences.  A media historian and expert in the interaction of telecommunications, electronic media, economics and public policy, Sterling will provide a lively perspective on an evolving industry, from the early coverage of Beatles and John F. Kennedy, to today’s innovations with satellites, cellular devices, tablets, You Tube and beyond. Light refreshments served. Free to SPJ members and students, $3 for others.
