Welcome to the group

The SPJ DC website has the ability to operate as a listserv for
board members. If you want to communicate with the board you can
send an email to board@spjdc.org.

A short time later that message will be emailed to all board
members. A node is created on the site, so there is a record of the
message. But it is not visible to the general public. Only members
of the group can see it.

To respond to the message click Reply to sender in your email
program. Automatically, the response will be addressed to listmaster@spjdc.org. The
response will be attached to the original message node as a comment
and sent to the group. The thread will be visible to board members
on the site as well.

If you want to reply off list to the sender of the original message
or the most recent comment you will see a link at the top of the
message.

I think I have gotten all of the new board members signed up for the
group. I have not yet removed retiring board members from the group.

Because this list is intended for internal discussions, it is not
possible for site users to subscribe themselves. It must be done by
a site administrator.

Right now the emails you will receive are somewhat ugly. I will fix
the templates used to generate them so they are less so.

There is another listserv we run for the freelance group. But so far
only Stephenie Overman and Hazel Becker are members of it. They will
eventually add members of the group to the list.

I have also set up several mailboxes on the server for officers and
committees. Each is forwarded to the personal email address of the
office holder. I got those addresses from the website’s user
database, which reflects information you gave to SPJ HQ.

Visitors to the website can communicate with officers and committees
by using a contact form and selecting the appropriate position,
i.e., president, vice president, ethics, programs, etc. That way, we
will not give out your personal email addresses and, which other
members fill positions we merely have to change the forwarding
rules.
