The Society of Professional Journalists was dealt a hard blow this week when its executive director, Terry Harper, succumbed to brain cancer.
Following his diagnosis of cancer back in 2007 Terry set up a blog to discuss what he was going through. The blog is Thumping My Melon and has some wonder tales of dealing with cancer. Terry also wrote his obit for the blog: The Final Thump

In honor of Terry, the Washington, D.C., chapter will have an empty place setting at the head table at the June 9 Dateline Awards dinner.
