Nominations open for officers, board seats

Media positions are vanishing in the tsunami hitting newsrooms across America. But, at SPJ chapters, dedicated workers are needed now, perhaps, more than ever.

That certainly applies to the Washington, D.C., Pro chapter, where candidates are needed to run for board and officer positions in our spring election.

As a board member or officer, you might help determine and implement programs, engage in FOI and other journalistic issues and help struggling young and old journalists who are jobless and need help networking.

You’ll experience the joys of meeting and working with new people and the satisfaction of helping the overall mission of SPJ.

The positions of president, vice president, treasurer, recording secretary and corresponding secretary will be on the ballot for one-year terms. We also will have three at-large seats on the chapter board open.

If you are interested in running, please contact Bob Webb, the chapter’s immediate past president, at rewebb@aol.com or 703-329-1960. The deadline is March 15.
