Members and guests of the Washington, D.C. SPJ Chapter are invited to a one-hour tour of the new $238 million National Public Radio headquarters at 1111 N. Capitol St. N.E. ADVANCE reservations are essential since no one will be admitted at the door if your name is not on the list. Use an identifiable name and your contact phone number to book a spot. Deadline to RSVP is 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29. Tours are slated for 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Specify which time slot you prefer and whether you will be staying on for the party afterward. Afterward, we will celebrate the holiday season at Hilton Garden Inn, 1225 First St. NE, Washington. Both NPR and the Garden Inn are a couple blocks walk from Metro Red Line stations at either Union Station or NoMA. (Check street maps at www.wmata.com.) You also can opt for valet parking at the Hilton Garden Inn for $9 and park there before going to NPR, which is a short walk away. Then return to Hilton for party. The will be a “Holiday Surprise” raffle of a gift card donated by the Hilton Garden Inn. Tickets for the party include a buffet of various finger foods and they are $5 for college students with an ID, $10 for SPJ members and $12 for nonmembers. There will be a cash bar with “Happy Hour” prices of $7 for wine, $5 for beer and $3 for soft drinks.
