Hebah Abdalla, senior interview producer with Al Jazeera Media Network, and Lisa Fletcher, host of the network’s “The Stream” program, will speak at the program, co-hosted by the Medill Washington Program and the Medill National Security Journalism Initiative of Northwestern University.
Abdalla was a member of the team that helped to launch Al Jazeera Media Network's America channel on Aug. 20 as part of its award-winning social media news program, “The Stream.” Prior to joining AJMN, she worked in news production for CNN and as an assignment editor for the its “World Report.” She was also an assignment editor at CBS affiliate WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio. Abdalla was part of a team that won a Peabody Award for its coverage of the Arab Spring uprisings. A graduate of Ohio University and the Ohio State University, she also serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council at Ohio University’s Scripps School of Journalism.
Fletcher is an investigative reporter and news anchor who has covered stories around the world at ABC News and various major-market television stations, including WJLA in Washington, DC. She has won the George Foster Peabody Award, multiple Edward R. Murrow Awards and numerous Emmy Awards for investigative journalism.
