Now is the time to get involved in the D.C. Pro chapter. And it doesn't take a large committment of time to do so.
Here are a few areas where, even with limited time on your hands, you can help:
- programming (planning events, finding venues)
- communications (working on our newsletter)
- membership (keeping our list current, contacting new and potential members)
For example,
- If you have an idea for a program, speaker, panel, or education session, maybe you could suggest speakers (better yet, book the speakers) and a place for the program. All it takes is a couple of phone calls. The chapter will handle the publicity.
- Or, maybe you are really good at writing and editing online newsletters. How about spending a couple of hours a month (yep, just a small amount of time each month) to work on the chapter's newsletter.
- Or maybe you really know how to make social media work for you and your news organization. Could you spare a few minutes a week to help the chapter? Sure you could!
- And then there is bound to be a database freak or two out there. Maybe you could help with the membership and publicity lists.
If you only have a little free time, that's OK. We would appreciate whatever you can do.
