A few months ago I thought the SPJ website was set up to operate as a
listserv for the board and the freelance group. Boy, was I wrong.
But now I’m pretty sure it is working properly. That means a message
sent to board@spjdc.org will create a node on the website and send
emails to all board members. No need to find an old email with all the
addresses and use that to create new emails. If you attach a file to the
email you send it should be linked on the node and also should be sent
to all board members.
To respond to the original email and add to a threaded discussion all
you have to do is click Reply to sender. When you do that the outgoing
message should have listmaster@spjdc.org in the To field. Your response
will be added to the node on the website as a comment and also will be
emailed to all board members. I’m pretty sure files attached to a
comment will also be linked to the original node and sent to everyone.
A word of caution about files. Sometimes they contain viruses. I could
minimize this problem by allowing only pdf, gif, png and jpg files to be
sent as attachments. But I suspect that would crimp everyone’s style. So
doc and txt files are allowed. Be careful.
