PRESIDENT’S REPORT
- — Overview of national convention in New Orleans; who is doing what stories for Dateline
- — Meeting with NPC about dinner prices.
- — Update on efforts to organize last panel in Press&Public grant-funded program.
- — Latest on joint programming — October media “mega mixer” with various journalism groups in DC, including ONA, local chapter of NAHJ, Asian journalists group.
VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT
- — Idea for a joint event with military reporters’ assoc.
- — Application for another programming grant from national SPJ (deadline Sept. 15)
TREASURER’S REPORT
OLD BUSINESS
- — Follow-up on Dateline awards banquet, including discussion of how we can contact folks who attended the dinner and are not members.
- — Appointing Dateline coordinator
- — 2012 dinner — dinner chairs; location; appointing dinner chair
- — Enrolling HoF members in chapter
- — New roster distribution (Sue?)
NEW BUSINESS
- — Response to chapter email looking for applications for someone to run the annual Dateline contest – status of applications and who is going to interview these folks.
- — Chapter board’s response to: DC Council Chairman Kwame Brown’s move to bar press from Sept. 22 council meeting saying, council needed to discuss “personnel matters” and to Mayor Gray’s move to stifle police and fire public communications.
- — Need for membership committee, some kind of outreach to reporters. SPJ members from other chapters who we learn have just moved to DC area.
- — Using Studio SPJ idea for quick hits for programs
