Interns needed for SPJ convention newspaper in New Orleans

Attention D.C.- area journalism students, here is your chance to really shine and meet some of the best journalists in the country.

The Working Press

The Society of Professional Journalists is seeking 12 interns for The Working Press, a daily tabloid newspaper and online news site, that will cover the Excellence in Journalism 2011 conference. Collegiate student reporters, editors, photographers and designers are invited to apply for these select positions.

This year’s conference is set for September 25-27 in New Orleans. Selected interns will need to arrive in New Orleans on Saturday, September 24 and attend a mandatory 2 p.m. staff meeting. The internship ends Wednesday, September 28 at Noon.

You provide:

  • Energy, talent, great ideas and a good attitude
  • Your transportation to and from New Orleans
  • Photographers: Bring your own gear (digital)
  • Selected interns will have out-of-pocket expenses to cover. (Examples: Meals not provided by SPJ and incidental room expenses).

The Society provides:

  • Complimentary convention registration

  • Some, but not all, meals
  • Mentoring by professional journalists
  • Networking venues
  • A place to showcase your talents in front of many professionals
