Open Government Reminds News Media About DC Arrest Law

The DC Open Government Coalition issued a statement August 22 drawing attention to the Washington DC law requires all arrests to be made public.

The statement came out as a reminder to the government following after the Trump Administration take-over of the DC Police Department.

The Coalition noted:

The public’s right of contemporaneous access to arrest records under statutes like D.C. Code § 5-113.06 and the First Amendment, protects our Fourth Amendment right against illegal search or seizure and our Fifth Amendment right to due process of law.
