Commedia dell Media at the National Press Club Thursday, April 8.
Final acts will be chosen March 1.
So move fast to get your name and act on the list.
Proceeds of the event go to charities that help journalists.
The show is open to any interested — and hopefully deliberately funny — journalist.
From the NPC:
"Reporters, producers, editors, and bloggers interested in taking full advantage of their right to free speech are invited to share a sample of their funniest material with the National Press Club. Stand-up is standard, but hilarity comes in myriad forms. Singers, jugglers, freestyle poets, magicians, comedy sketches, Vaudevillian duos, neo-Dadaist performance artists-all are welcome on the Commedia dell Media stage."
The proceeds from Commedia dell Media will benefit The Committee to Protect Journalists/Journalist Assistance Program, The Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library, and Reporters Without Borders.
People willing to step up to the mike need to submit an audio or video sample of their best work to Commedia dell Media c/o National Press Club 529 14th St. NW 13th Floor, Washington, DC 20045, or contact Christina Davidson at Christina_davidson@mac.com to discuss your act.
Performers will be selected on March 1.
