Although it’s been a journalism cliché for decades, it proved to be true for the SPJ DC Pro holiday party Dec. 11 at the National Press Club. Heavy rain and high winds greeted party-goers as they made their way to the event. The bad weather, however, did not dampen the enthusiasm of the many people who showed up.
Old-timers met newcomers. We were happy to welcome the leaders of the University of Maryland student chapter – Emily Condon, Emely Miranda-Aguilar and Sara Rooney.
We also added a new wrinkle this year – SPJ bingo. This allowed members to find the answers about questions pegged to chapter members. Tony Cabral took the event seriously, and won a First Amendment tote bag for his efforts!
