SPJ DC Pro Chapter is a Tribute Partner sponsor of the International Center for Journalists’ annual awards gala, this year celebrating its 40th anniversary.
The ICFJ will be holding its awards dinner in Washington and will be honoring the many intrepid reporters who often put their lives on the line to bring us the news. Today they face unprecedented challenges, and need our help — and recognition — more than ever. U.S. headliners will join those working in countries where free media are in grave danger to showcase the importance of quality news.
The event will be Nov. 14, 2024, at 6 p.m. in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center (1300 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20004, 14th Street entrance).
Besides the dinner, leading journalists will dig into the implications of this historic election year, in a special, on-stage conversation.
NBC News’ Meet the Press Moderator Kristen Welker, the emcee of this year’s awards gala, will lead the timely discussion, featuring:
- Peter Baker, chief White House correspondent for The New York Times who also is a long-time SPJ DC Pro Chapter member
- Eugene Daniels, POLITICO Playbook co-author and White House correspondent
- Maria Ressa, Nobel Peace Prize laureate; co-founder and CEO of Rappler; professor of practice and IGP-affiliated faculty member, Columbia SIPA; and ICFJ board member.
Members of the SPJ DC Pro Chapter can get discounted tickets for the event. Instead of $550/person, chapter members can get tickets at $350/person. Use this code when registering: SPJDC24
