About 40 people dropped by the SPJ DC Pro Chapter’s holiday party on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, held in a private room at the National Press Club. There were a lot of old and new faces enjoying the food, drink and good company of each other.
It was the first end-of-year holiday gathering for the chapter in a number of years. Pre-pandemic, there had been a move to the latter part of January for a membership appreciation meeting and social time to celebrate personal achievements and contributions members have made to the mission of SPJ. Since the lockdowns in March of 2020 due to the distancing recommendations that came with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the chapter has been inching back to hosting in-person events.
The success of this casual event to meet and greet among members of the chapter was enjoyed by all. Chapter President Denise Dunbar said the chapter is looking at doing more purely social programs in the future.
