I’m writing with a heavy heart to inform you of the passing of Dee Ann Divis, our SPJ DC Pro Board of Directors president and an accomplished science writer and investigative reporter.
Dee Ann died on Nov. 22, after an illness of a few months. She was surrounded by her family, who had provided loving support as she dealt with her illness. Dee Ann was a good person and a friend, and she was an excellent journalist who had served on our chapter board of directors since 2017, including three years as vice president. She was a leading space writer and a fierce advocate for freedom of information and the freelance community. She mentored many people, including me, and was generous with her time in trying to help other journalists. I already miss her.
Obituary for Dee Ann.
