February Membership Drive: Each One, Nudge One

Win a free registration to this year’s Excellence in Journalism Convention at the Washington Hilton!

Recruit your friends and colleagues to join SPJ!

WE HOPE YOU ENJOY PARTICIPATING!!

One person from the SPJ DC Pro Chapter will win a free registration to attend EIJ20 here in D.C. Sept. 10-12.

Each time you recruit someone to join SPJ national and the DC Chapter for the first time, your name will be entered into our raffle. The more members you sign up, the greater your chance to win.

The contest runs from Feb. 1 to June 1. The winner will be announced at the chapter’s June 9 Dateline Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner at the National Press Club Ballroom.

Send the names of the people you have signed up via the chapter website. Go to About Us, click on Contact Us. Put “Membership Drive” in the subject line, and email us your name and the name of your SPJ recruit.

And what better way to get started on this than to take advantage of the national SPJ membership drive that kicked off today for the month of February?

New members who join national SPJ get 33% off the regular annual dues price. So, a regular $75 annual dues rate for professional members will be reduced to $50 during the month.

As an added incentive for both the national and the DC Chapter membership recruitment initiatives, DC Pro will pay the first year of $25 annual local dues for anyone who also signs up new for a national SPJ membership, during the month of February.

DC Pro member-in-good-standing guidelines state that one must be current on both the national and DC Pro dues, so act now – when you recruit new chapter members who can join both national and the local chapter for $50 for pro members, your name will be entered in the raffle for an EIJ20 registration!

In return for the dues paid by DC Pro during February for new members only, we hope you will encourage your recruits to use the $25 savings on national dues, also during February, as a promise to renew their $25 chapter memberships in 2021!

During February, SPJ is offering a discount when new members join the Society, and we’re joining headquarters in asking for your help in spreading the #SPJLove. Help increase SPJ’s membership numbers by sharing this great deal with your friends and colleagues — 33% off for new members who join in February.

That means to join as a professional member for a year it will be $50, and it will only cost $25 to join as a household, retired, student or post-graduate member for a year.

But the #SPJLove doesn’t stop there. On Valentine’s Day Feb. 14 join us for the #SPJ4All social media campaign to celebrate SPJ’s diverse membership and show that SPJ is a place for everyone. Snap a selfie or group photo in your newsroom and share on TwitterFacebook or Instagram with #SPJ4All. Wear your favorite journalism T-shirt or pose with your newspaper. Get creative! During the day, we’ll share and retweet your photos and videos, so don’t forget to tag us and use #SPJ4All.

Get in on the fun, and do your professional contacts a favor by getting them involved, too!
