For many journalists here in the United States, the idea of being a foreign correspondent is a glamorous one.
But what is it like for members of the international press community who have been assigned to cover news while based in Washington? What is it like to reach this level in their professional careers?
On Monday, Oct. 21, you will have an opportunity to hear from two Washington correspondents for European news outlets: Brian O’Donovan, from Ireland’s national broadcaster RTÉ, and Raphaël Grand, from Switzerland’s French-language RTS Radio.
Panel moderator Selma Khenissi, a member of the SPJ DC Pro Chapter board of directors, will start off the evening engaging the two correspondents with questions from the DC Pro Chapter’s Foreign Press Liaison Committee. After that, she’ll open up the floor for questions from the audience.
The Georgetown Master of Journalism Program is hosting and co-sponsoring the evening event with SPJ DC Pro.
The panel discussion will take place in the first-floor auditorium at Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies, 640 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20001. By Metro: Chinatown/Gallery Place station on Red and Yellow/Green lines. Other directions to the school are here.
Registration and light refreshments beginning at 6 p.m.
Program starts at 6:30 p.m. and concludes just before 8 p.m.
