Can television stations use social media to add important questions and ideas to the discussion of community issues? The St. Louis public television station KETC, the Nine Network, has collaborated with the Reynolds Journalism Institute to develop a second screen strategy for public media. Researchers and public media executives describe how they use social media to make the precious 'public forum of journalism' broader, more diverse and more robust. Then, a top media consultant and a television station executive explain how commercial television is pursuing second screen innovation to build engagement between audiences and stations.
