  • — New minimum chapter requirements (approved by board in Sept.)

  • — Status of next issue Dateline newsletter/contacting Katherine Lewis to be editor
  • — Plan for contacting 25-, 30-year members about presenting pins at holiday party
  • — Ben’s email about missing board meetings — discuss replacement?

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT

  • — Joint event with military reporters’ assoc. (Nov. 17)
  • — Recap of mega mixer at press club Oct. 26
  • — Press & Public event Oct. 27
  • — Holiday party for Dec. 6

TREASURER’S REPORT

  • — IRS filing requirement (due by Dec. 15 – was filed before convention)

OLD BUSINESS

  • — 2012 dinner: Latest on bids from National Press Club, Maggiano’s for 2012 Dateline awards banquet. (Andy)
  • — Survey of chapter members about their opinions on location, price of Dateline banquet/ results, responses (Sue)
  • — Enrolling HoF members in chapter
  • — Need for membership committee, some kind of outreach to reporters. SPJ members from other chapters who we learn have just moved to DC area.

NEW BUSINESS

  • — The Missouri Press Association is asking money for a PBS-quality program they wish to produce on the performance of journalists during the tornado aftermath.
  • — Chapter response –- if any –- to concerns raised by local media to Metropolitan Police Dept.’s recent decision to encrypt radio communications.
