Asher back as chapter president

In this year's D.C. Pro election, Julie Asher was again chosen chapter president.

Asher, a national editor at Catholic News Service, was D.C. Pro's president in 1992-93.She also has been SPJ's Region 2 director.

The new chapter vice president is Jenn Rowell, who has served as president of the Virginia Pro and Alabama Pro chapters.

Other chapters officers are:

  • Amy Fickling as treasurer
  • Sue Kopen Katcef as corresponding secretary
  • Sherell Williams, who is new to the board, as recording secretary

Paul H. Byers and Ben Shlesinger were re-elected to the board. Amy Reinink was chosen for the first time. They join returning members Bill McCloskey, Steve Taylor and Bob Becker as directors.

There were no contested races in this year's election.

Andy Schotz, who just finished three terms as president, is an ex officio member of the board as immediate past president.
All officers and other board members were sworn in at the chapter's annual Hall of Fame dinner on June 14.
