The James Aronson Award for Social Justice Journalism

The James Aronson Award is presented annually to journalism that measures business, governmental and social affairs against clear ideals of the common good. Of particular interest is work examining persistent, systemic social problems. Winning stories might scrutinize discrimination, economic injustice, civil liberties, free expression, particularly as these issues are complicated in an era of globalization and terrorism.
Stories should have appeared in U.S. newspapers, magazines, newsletters or Internet publications between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 of the year prior to the contest.
The Grambs Aronson Cartooning with a Conscience Award
Deadline: January 7, 2011
The Grambs Aronson Award for Cartooning with a Conscience honors satiric graphic art that shows distinction in some combination of the following features:
- Creative mastery of traditional artistic technique
- Coherent, compassionate social vision
- Inventive comic narrative
- Innovation in forms or media of cartooning.
