Update: Threat to South Park creators came from DC-area

The person who posted a threat against Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of the animated series South Park is a Fairfax County resident.

Foxnews.com tracked down Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee, the author of the threat on RevolutionMuslim.com, and found out he lives in Centerville, Va., with his mother, wife and son. (Road to Radicalism: The Man Behind the ‘South Park’ Threats)

The George Mason University news website, Connect2Mason, followed up on the Foxnews.com report that Al-Amrikee, born as Zachary Adam Chesser, was a student at Mason.(Former Mason Student Responsible for Threats to South Park Creators)

Connect2Mason even got an e-mail interview with Al-Amrikee/Chesser for its story.

So here we have a major international story with a serious local angle and the only local Washington, D.C. news organization that did anything with it was Connect2Mason. (The Washington Post ran an AP story April 21 that identified Al-Amrikee/Chesser as being from New York.)

Congratulations to Connect2Mason for following up.

Update: I now see that Examiner.com in their National blog re-capped the FoxNews.com piece April 23. (Zachary Adam Chesser: From goth kid to ‘South Park’ threats) Sorry for missing it earlier.
