I just posted a piece at my George Mason University site talking about the importance of getting information right.
Getting the info right remains important to journalism, no matter the platform
Granted, it gets a little long-winded but it is something we need to keep emphasizing.
Good journalism is not where we publish/broadcast but rather it is what we do.
The release of the iPad to the wild is just another example of changes in our industry that need to be addressed. The issue is not how people will get their news but rather how that news is gathered and reported.
This is where the SPJ — and its Code of Ethics — can play a vital role in helping to better educate future journalists who may never end up working in a newsroom about what it means to be an honest reporter of the news.
I just thought this might get a few people thinking about this — again.
