Volunteers for JEA sought

Note from chapter president Andy Schotz

Anyone interested in helping with the upcoming national Journalism Education Association convention (Nov. 12 through 15 at the Marriott Wardman Park), please get in touch with the two JEA contacts below ASAP.

Thanks to those who have volunteered. The JEA greatly appreciates it.

If you’d like to judge:

Contact Chad Rummel at CLRummel@fcps.edu.
He’s looking for at least 10 judges on Friday evening (Nov. 13) for writing and editing/headlines.
They will provide dinner first.
I believe the meal and judging runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

If you’d like to speak:

Contact Reggie Ragland at regrag96@hotmail.com.

He is looking for speakers for "Break With A Pro," on journalism careers.

Reggie said he needs people to talk about:

  1. Advocacy/nonprofit Journalism (particularly someone who’s either done both or teaches both)
  2. Graphics/Pagination/Illustration
  3. Magazine reporting/editing
  4. News Op-Ed
  5. News Newswriting

Those sessions from 9 to 10 a.m. and 10 to 11 a.m., also on Friday, Nov. 13.
