SDX/DC Seeks Applicants for 2010 Scholarships

The Sigma Delta Chi Foundation of Washington, D.C., is accepting applications for its 2010 scholarships from undergraduate students attending colleges and universities in the Washington, D.C., area.

All applicants must show a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in journalism and must be a rising sophomore or junior in the summer of 2009.

Up to five scholarships of $4,000 each will be awarded applicants selected from the 2010 scholarship competition.

If you or someone you know is pursuing a career in journalism and is attending a college or university in the Washington, D.C., area, read on.

Applications and required supporting documents must be postmarked by December 21, 2009.

The SDX/DC Foundation, started in 1962, has awarded some 200 scholarships to help aspiring journalists attending college in the Washington, D.C., area. Scholarships pay for tuition, books and other college-related expenses.

Past scholarship recipients have come from all over the nation to study at Washington, D.C.- area colleges, bringing their passion for journalism with them. Students apply directly to the foundation for a scholarship. Applicants must show an ongoing interest in journalism and pass a rigorous interview by a panel of journalism veterans.

Past recipients hold a variety of jobs at news organizations across the country.

The recipients of the scholarships will be named in the Spring of 2010.
