Indianapolis has been a great walking-around city. There’s plenty that’s interesting and worthwhile within several blocks, such as the NCAA Hall of Champions, which had good interactive exhibits.
I enjoyed the impressive war memorials not far from the Capitol – more so because of timing.
At the Indiana World War Memorial, a bronze statue called Pro Patria depicts a flag-wrapped soldier reaching for – well, it could be anything lofty. One suggestion given was a laurel.
While I was there, an organization called The PourHouse arrived with what appeared to be food and drinks for the homeless, who were waiting for them.
The symbolism of this generous and unfortunately necessary giveaway inthe shadow of the Pro Patria statue resonated.
