Description: Freedom House, founded in 1941, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that supports the expansion of freedom in the world. Freedom House serves as a catalyst for freedom through its analysis, advocacy, and action.
Freedom House seeks a Managing Editor for its bi-lingual website, Gozaar.org, which offers an interactive, inclusive space for discussion of democracy and human rights in Iran and hosts resources for activists, human rights defenders, and Iranian citizens. The Managing Editor will manage the production and English content of Gozaar and contribute to the implementation and financial management of Iran programs.
Under the supervision of the Editor of Gozaar and the Senior Program Manager for Iran, the Managing Editor will manage the timely production and English content of Gozaar and lead in developing new online resources and tools. Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
developing themes, editorial content, and standing content; identifying contributors; managing relations with contributors and translators; managing the production process; enforcing deadlines; helping to ensure relevant, appropriate, well-written and well-edited English content in a timely way.
The Managing Editor will also participate in financial management, reporting, design of new programs, fundraising, and public relations.

Qualification:Qualified candidates will have:
- A Master’s degree
- At least 5 years of experience with international programs related to human rights and democracy
- Substantive experience in writing (such as journalism) and editing of English language periodicals
- A demonstrated interest in Iran and the Middle East (required);
- Experience in working on Iran-related issues (preferred).
